Send Email From Another Address With Gmail

Sending emails using your domain name gives your business an extra air of professionalism. For example, enquiries@awesomecorp.com makes a better impression than awesomecorp@gmail.com. The price of doing this can be having to switch away from your preferred email client and keeping track of two accounts. But it is possible to send email from another address, or alias, using your Gmail account.
Before we start, you'll need some information from the account you want to send as. You should already have the account password and username. If not, talk to whoever set up your email for you. You'll also need the SMTP server address and port number. If you already have all those, skip forward to step 4.
If you don't have them you can ask whoever set up your email, your server admin, or server support, for the username and SMTP details. Or if you have your website server log in details and you're confident enough using the control panel, you can find the username and SMTP details there. The first few steps will show you how to find them using the popular cPanel control panel.
Step 1
Log into your cPanel account and click on 'Email Accounts'. Your version of cPanel might be using a different theme, so it could look a bit different to the screen grabs in this post.

Step 2
Click the 'More' button for the address you want to send as, then click the 'Configure Email Client' option in the dropdown menu.

Step 3
Scroll down the page a little and take note of the username, the outgoing SMTP server address and port number. You should already have the account password. Contact the person who set up your email if you don't.

Step 4
Log into your Gmail account, click the gear icon in the top right, then click settings in the drop down menu.

Step 5
Click the 'Accounts and Import' option.

Step 6
Click the 'Add another email address you own' option.

Step 7
Enter the name you want associated with this email address, then the email address itself and click 'Next Step'.

Step 8
Fill in the SMTP server address, the account username, the password and select the correct port number using the drop down menu. Then click the 'Add Account' button.

Step 9
If all goes to plan you'll see the message below. Go to your inbox and click the confirmation link and we're all done.
